Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in North Carolina is seeking an Instructor, Paramedic to provide instruction in Emergency Medical Science and to advise students pursuing the Associate of Emergency Medical Science.

Responsibilities include maintaining mastery of subject matter, developing and teaching courses, using varied delivery methods, participating in program reviews and accreditation efforts, and supporting campus safety and student success.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Science.
• One year of full‑time or equivalent field experience in advanced EMS instruction.
• One year of full‑time or equivalent experience as a Paramedic at an EMS agency.
• NCOEMS Paramedic, NCOEMS Level I Paramedic Instructor (or obtain in first 8 months).
• BCLS‑I, ACLS‑I, PALS‑I (or obtain in first 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Maintain mastery of subject matter.
• Develop and/or teach courses for which the appropriate credential is held.
• Teach in various formats, locations, and via various delivery methods.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.
• Communicate clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.
• Contribute to a safe and secure campus environment.
• Enforce Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct.
• Assist with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.
• Attend meetings and events and actively participate on committees and task forces.
• Attend the annual commencement ceremony.
• Uphold the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
• Support diversity in all aspects.
• Establish or uphold learning outcomes that are relevant and meaningful.
• Evaluate student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
• Develop, prepare, and/or deliver all levels of curriculum courses.

• Maintain professional certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
