Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health seeks an Emergency Medical Technician to deliver high-quality pre-hospital care and transportation in a professional manner. The role requires two years EMS experience, an active driver’s license, and current CPR/ACLS/PALS certifications.

National registry paramedic license is preferred; after one year, SCT certification may be pursued. Maintains licenses, communicates with dispatch, and participates in community and QA activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years EMS experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
• Must possess current valid driver’s license and driving record compliant with company policy.
• Must possess all required certifications including state license, CPR, ACLS, and PALS.
• National registry paramedic license preferred.
• After one year of paramedic experience, ability to complete SCT certification course.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates each call to determine best course of action and protocol.
• Operates Company vehicles safely at all times.
• Ensures appropriate use of seat belts and proper patient securing on the stretcher.
• Provides advanced medical care using defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen, suction, IV fluids, CPR, and related procedures.
• Develops triage skills to optimize call efficiency and coordinates with receiving facilities.
