Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Ambulance in Iowa is seeking a certified EMT-B to assess patients, prioritize needs, and implement care plans aligned with protocols.

This full-time, 12-hour day shift (72 hours biweekly) requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Iowa driver’s license, BLS within 3 months of hire, and documentation of care provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
• Certified as an EMT in the State of Iowa.
• One year recent EMT-B experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required; must meet safety standards and be able to drive in Iowa.
• BLS certification within three months of hire; allowed certs include AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Essential Functions

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

• High school diploma preferred or high school equivalency.
• Certified as an EMT in the State of Iowa.
• One year recent experience functioning as an EMT-B providing direct patient care preferred.
• Valid driver’s/Chauffeurs License required. Must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, be at least 18 years of age, and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Basic Life Support certified within three months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.
