Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Paramedic to join our team in Orlando, FL. This role involves active bedside reporting, collaborative patient care with physicians and nurses, and timely documentation of interventions.

You will participate in rounds, ensure patient safety, and assist with complex bedside procedures under Medical Director guidance. Required state-paramedic certification, BLS, ACLS, and PALS, plus a minimum of 1 year of field or hospital experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in paramedicine preferred.
  • Graduate of state approved paramedic course required.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding.
  • Provides quality patient care under physician direction in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
  • Documents interventions in a timely manner and administers medications as ordered.
  • Assists with pain management and monitors respiratory therapy in collaboration with therapy teams.
  • Performs procedures within Paramedic scope defined by Medical Director, including wound care, blood draws, IV/IO procedures, and splinting.
  • Engages in problem-solving with leadership to resolve clinical issues and participates in committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Job Description:

Schedule: Full Time Thurs-Sat 7am-7pm Location: Innovation Tower, Orlando, FL

  • Actively participates in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.
  • Provides quality patient care under the direction of the Physician and in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
  • Participates in shared decision-making, performance improvement activities, and provides input to committees.
  • Accepts accountability for problem-solving issues and works with leaders to resolve clinical issues.
  • Documents interventions in a timely manner.
  • Administers medications when ordered by the overseeing physician and delegated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assures patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources.
  • Prioritizes interventions based on patient needs in collaboration with nurse and support staff.
  • Performs and documents accurate reassessments as defined by standards of care and physician orders.
  • Monitors and intervenes in pain management under the delegation of the Registered Nurse.
  • Administers and monitors respiratory therapy in collaboration with respiratory therapy.
  • Performs and documents procedures according to the Paramedic scope defined by the Medical Director, including dressing changes, wound care, blood draws, IV and IO insertion/discontinuation, splinting, cervical stabilization, hemorrhage control, mechanical restraints, and assisting with complex bedside procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
  • Associate in paramedicine [Preferred]
  • Field of Study: Graduate of state approved paramedic course [Required]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ year of experience as a paramedic in the field, a hospital, or in a clinical setting [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Licensed Paramedic (PARA) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) [Required]
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Required]

Pay Range: $20.58 - $32.92
