This position provides quality paramedic services, including initial assessment and proper treatment interventions (invasive and noninvasive) to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in need of emergency and nonemergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment. The role is governed by the operating medical protocols, policies, and procedures of South Central Regional Medical Center, as approved by the Administration, Medical Director, and the Mississippi State Department of Health, BEMS.

Job Duties

• Provide quality paramedic services to patients.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, first responders, co-workers, supervisors, dispatchers, staff in other locations, and the public.
• Plan and prioritize daily work to maximize productivity and manage time efficiently.
• Provide leadership and guidance for AEMT, EMT, EMS Drivers, Wheelchair drivers, new employees, and students.
• Perform duties independently with minimal supervision, seeking guidance when appropriate.
• Accurately document all calls and complete medical records correctly.
• Ensure equipment is properly checked, present, and ready for safe service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current NREMT Paramedic certification and preferred MSDH Paramedic License (can be applied for after initial hire; must be maintained during employment).
• Current MSDL and preferred MSDH EMS Driver’s license (can be obtained after initial hire; must be maintained during employment).
• Preferred current ACLS and PALS certifications (can be obtained after initial hire; must be maintained during employment).
• FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 classes are preferred.
• Positive team attitude.

Decision-making involves following and executing protocols in conjunction with on-duty medical control physicians and shift supervisors.

Physical assessment tasks include walking on various terrains, lifting equipment and patients, pushing/pulling/loading/unloading stretchers, and operating medical equipment.
