Summary of Job Duties
The Telemedic plays a critical role in supporting the real-time delivery of teleconferenced stroke care provided by the IDHI Stroke Program. This position operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of practice of an EMT or Paramedic. The Telemedic assists in patient support, case coordination, and accurate tracking of incoming referrals and stroke-related data. The role requires strong communication skills, quick response to medical requests, and a high level of professionalism to ensure effective care delivery via telehealth platforms.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED. Current Arkansas Paramedic License and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Must have a minimum of 1 year of paramedic experience, including at least 6 months of active ambulance service within the past year.
Additional Information
Responsibilities
- Facilitate teleconferenced stroke consultations through the IDHI Stroke Program
- Answer and document calls received by the IDHI Call Center
- Assist with tracking referrals and managing stroke patient cases
- Operate and maintain telemedicine equipment for clinical use
- Communicate with providers to coordinate timely care
- Perform clinical duties within the Paramedic scope under RN supervision
- Monitor and document patient conditions during virtual consultations
- Support stroke evaluations alongside physicians and nurses
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting for regulatory needs
- Follow established protocols and procedures
- Participate in training, quality checks, and program improvements
- Support overall telemedicine operations and readiness
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or medical staff
