Job description

This position provides quality paramedic services, including initial assessment and proper treatment interventions (invasive and noninvasive) for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in need of emergency and nonemergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment. The role is governed by the operating medical protocols, policies, and procedures of South Central Regional Medical Center, approved by the Administration, Medical Director, and the Mississippi State Department of Health, BEMS.

Job Duties include:

• Providing quality paramedic services to patients.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, families, first responders, co-workers, supervisors, dispatchers, staff, and the public.
• Planning and prioritizing daily work to maximize productivity and manage time efficiently.
• Providing leadership and guidance to AEMT, EMT, EMS Drivers, Wheelchair drivers, new employees, and students.
• Performing duties independently with minimal supervision, seeking guidance when necessary.
• Proper documentation of all calls and accurate completion of medical records.
• Ensuring equipment is checked, present, and ready for safe use.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current NREMT Paramedic certification and preferred MSDH Paramedic License (license can be applied for after hire but must be maintained).
• Current MSDL and preferred MSDH EMS Driver’s license (can be obtained after hire but must be maintained).
• Preferred current ACLS and PALS certifications (can be obtained after hire but must be maintained).
• Familiarity with FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 classes is preferred.
• Positive team attitude.

Contacts include: Physicians, nurses, hospital departments, coworkers, other ambulance services, and students.

Decision Making: Follow protocols in conjunction with on-duty medical control physician and shift supervisor.

Physical Assessment: Walking on various terrains, lifting equipment and patients, pushing/pulling stretchers, operating medical equipment.
