Job summary

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE is seeking a Paramedic to provide advanced emergency medical care and transport critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active Paramedic license in Nebraska.
• Active membership on a Rescue Service in Nebraska.
• BLS certification (or BLS instructor).
• ACLS certification (or ACLS instructor) within 6 months.
• PALS certification (or PALS instructor) within 6 months.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Paramedic for Good Samaritan Hospital, you will provide advanced emergency medical care and transport critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings.

Every day you will rapidly assess scenes, evaluate conditions, and administer life-saving interventions, while safely operating emergency vehicles and documenting care.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate expert clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking under stress, and compassionate communication, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

• Functions within the scope of practice of a Paramedic as defined within Nebraska state regulations and listed in the Approved Skills and Procedures for Licensed EMS Providers document
• Take on patient assignments over seen by an RN
• Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures including EKG, accu checks, CPR, crutches, ace bandage application, splint application, wound cleansing, dressing, and immobilization

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Active Paramedic license in the state of Nebraska
• Must have and maintain active membership on a Rescue Service in the state of Nebraska
• BLS(Basic Life Support) or BLS instructor certification through American Heart Association
• ACLS(Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or ACLS instructor certification through American Heart Association within 6 months of start date
• PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification within 6 months of start date
• NRP(Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within 6 months of hire

CHI Health Good Samaritan has provided paramedic-level emergencyambulance serviceto the City of Kearney and Buffalo County Fire District #1 since 1988. Our paramedics also provide mutual aid response to area ambulance and rescue squads in order to bring the emergency department closer to the patient.

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
