Trinity Health is hiring a Paramedic for ProMed in Grand Rapids. The selected candidate will provide pre-hospital life support, monitor patients, and perform advanced procedures as needed.

Must possess Michigan Paramedic license, ACLS/BTLS, CPR certification, and a clean driving record. The role requires strong teamwork and commitment to our mission and patient care standards.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.
  • Certification in ACLS, BTLS, and CPR is required.
  • Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license with a clean driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Assess illness/injury, prioritize medical procedures and arrange needed assistance.
  • Restore and stabilize heart rhythm in pulseless/non-breathing patients.
  • Monitor cardiac patients and respond to evolving conditions.
  • Initiate IV fluids and administer medications as needed.
  • Perform endotracheal intubation and ventilate patients.
  • Administer injections and initial treatments at emergency scene, record vitals.
  • Provide medical exams and screening according to Medical Control Protocols.
  • Assist in extricating patients and transport to treatment centers.

Paramedic, ProMed will need:
  • Current Paramedic license from the State of Michigan.
  • Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support), and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
  • Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history.
  • Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of MH.
Paramedic, ProMed will do:
  • Assesses nature and extent of illness of injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance.
  • Restores and stabilizes heart rhythm on pulseless, non-breathing patients.
  • Monitors cardiac patient.
  • Initiates intravenous fluids to administer medication or drugs, or to replace fluids lacking in the body.
  • Performs endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patient.
  • Administers injections of medications, drugs or immunization.
  • Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and takes and records patient’s vital signs.
  • Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with Medical Control Authority Protocols.
  • Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center Lifts and places patients on stretcher, restrains patient appropriately, lifts and moves patient to stretcher, lifts and moves loaded stretcher into ambulance.
  • Observes, records, and reports to physician, patient’s condition, and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Remains in the back of the ambulance with all patients they are taking care of.
  • Coordinates patient care between inter-agency (ie. Fire and Police) personnel and other company employees.
  • Operates Pro-Med vehicles in a safe, professional manner being attentive to the needs of the patients he/she is transporting.
  • Communicates with Physician and other medical personnel via radio or telephone.
  • Completes all reports, including patient care records, legibly, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • At each shift change, checks medical/operating supplies and vehicle utilizing Pro-Med’s shift check list.
  • At each shift change, inspects vehicle to ensure that it is ready for service (e.g. brakes, lights, fluids, etc).
  • Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential and professional manner, always taking into account the well-being of the patient.
  • Maintains response readiness consistent with company’s response criteria.
  • Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies.
  • Maintains vehicles and quarters pursuant to Pro-Med policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
