As the temporary Paralegal for this international law firm, you will support a busy practice during one of its most active periods, assisting with legislative and regulatory research, client communications, lobbying compliance, and political action committee (PAC) administration. You will work closely with clients and the broader team to monitor developments, prepare filings and written materials, and ensure time-sensitive priorities are handled accurately and efficiently. If you are intellectually curious, highly organized, and interested in the intersection of public policy, legislation, and compliance, this could be an exciting temporary opportunity to join a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate regularly with external contacts, helping address questions and support ongoing firm needs.
  • Track legislative and regulatory activity and assess developments relevant to client interests.
  • Conduct research in response to client requests and practice needs.
  • Prepare and submit filings at the federal, state, and local levels, staying current on changing requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Support the administration of multiple PACs, maintaining accurate balances and compliance records and assisting with required state and federal filings.
  • Review records and filings, identify discrepancies, and assist with resolving issues to maintain accurate and timely reporting.
  • Review contributions and conduct research on federal, state, and local campaign finance requirements to help ensure client compliance.
  • Draft client-facing documents and communications using strong writing and attention to detail skills.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, taking ownership of assigned work while collaborating closely with colleagues and clients.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
  • Global law firm located in the heart of DC, with an office culture that is committed to pro bono, diversity, and a warm, inclusive work environment.
  • This position is approved for a hybrid work model, providing some flexibility to work remotely two (2) days a week.
  • This is a temporary position seeking a three-month commitment.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Educated. You hold a bachelor’s degree and bring a strong academic foundation that demonstrates curiosity, and an ability to learn complex subject matter.
  • Analytical. You enjoy researching unfamiliar topics, asking thoughtful questions, and digging into the details to identify relevant issues.
  • Policy-minded. You have a strong understanding of political and legislative processes and an interest in how policy and regulatory developments affect organizations and their clients.
  • Organized. You can balance multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy across detailed, time-sensitive work.
  • Team-based. You build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients and approach shared goals with professionalism and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Articulate. You communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal settings.
  • Technically capable. You are proficient with Microsoft Office, and can learn new systems and processes quickly.
