Job description

We are looking for a full-time temporary paralegal to assist with projects, with the consideration to be permanent given performance.

The role:

We are seeking a skilled, diligent and empathic paralegal to join in on the expansion of our legal team, at first temporarily with the option of permanent performance pending.


Primary functions of the temporary position

Assist with document review, assist with reviewing and re-assigning tasks, auditing legal files, discussing and strategizing with attorneys, and other high level projects to assist the firm's overall health and workflow.


Primary functions of a permanent paralegal caseload are different, including those as well: settling and negotiating accounts to receive a favorable outcome for our clients, ability to comprehend complex legal concepts and convey them clearly to clients, providing excellent customer service which may include de-escalating or comforting clients in crisis, time-management and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


Responsibilities include:


  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships while maintaining client confidentiality

  • Handling client inquiries and correspondence with compassion and accuracy

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with: clients, opposing counsel, co-workers, attorneys, and any other external parties

  • Collaborate effectively with others fostering a positive and cooperative work environment

  • Conduct legal research using various resources to gather relevant information for cases, contracts, and legal opinions to increase team knowledge

  • Draft, review, and organize all correspondence and documents ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company and legal guidelines

  • Assisting and communicating effectively with Attorneys

  • Review legal documents

  • Coordinate with necessary parties to advocate for our clients

  • Ensuring client files organization, availability and readiness for trial

  • Maintain and update legal databases, filing systems, and document repositories, ensuring easy retrieval and accurate recordkeeping

  • Assist in conducting due diligence reviews and compliance checks to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are constantly met

  • Identify and analyze discrepancies within cases and raise them to Attorneys

  • Attend relevant training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills

  • Assist colleagues when needed and contribute to team goals.

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in a firm required.

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies or similar, Paralegal Certification; or an equivalent mix of education and experience

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities within tight time constraints

  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills

  • Customer service-oriented with a sense of urgency

  • Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality

  • Ability to work independently while adhering to deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to comprehend complex legal concepts and convey them clearly to clients

Compensation

Salary range of 60,000 – $65,000 dependent on experience.
