Job summary
United States Attorneys' Offices seeks a paralegal/legal support professional to join a team assisting Assistant United States Attorneys on Indian Country crime investigations and prosecutions. You will conduct in-depth legal research, organize case materials, and draft legally grounded documents to support case strategy.
The role involves assisting in court during hearings, coordinating pre-trial witness conferences, and preparing summaries with recommended data for prosecution teams as cases
Qualifications
- Specialized Experience: 1 full year at GS-9 level or equivalent.
- Education: PhD or equivalent, 3 years grad education, or LL.M.
- Combining Education and Experience may qualify; grad education must exceed two full years.
Responsibilities
- Provide substantive legal support to AUSAs in investigations and prosecutions.
- Conduct legal research on Indian Country crimes and related statutes and precedents.
- Draft legal documents to identify issues and develop legally supportable conclusions.
- Assist AUSAs in court during hearings and trials.
- Participate in pre-trial witness conferences and review case materials for deficiencies.
- Prepare initial summaries and recommend data relevancy for case preparation.
