Job summary

The Customs and Border Protection department in Aguadilla, PR seeks a Paralegal Specialist to perform complex legal support work, including review, analysis, case management, and adjudication of civil enforcement matters to support DHS enforcement objectives.

You will assist Asset Forfeiture Officers, contribute to legally sufficient decisions, and may train others on the Basic Paralegal Certification Course; location is Aguadilla, Puerto Rico with GS-12 pay scale.

Qualifications

• Reviewing and adjudicating seizures, penalties, prior disclosures, immigration carrier fines, and claims for liquidated damages within the Asset Forfeiture Officer's authority.

Responsibilities

• Serving as a subject matter expert for higher level management and may be requested to instruct at the Basic Paralegal Certification Course.
• Assuring that all due process considerations are met and that the elements necessary to establish a violation are present and supported by appropriate documentation.
