Job summary

LoanCare is seeking a Paralegal - Licensing to support licensing across jurisdictions and assist attorneys with litigation and discovery tasks. The role reports to an attorney and collaborates with Legal and Compliance professionals to keep licenses current and in good standing.

The ideal candidate has strong research, documentation, and communication skills, with experience in mortgage servicing regulatory requirements. Hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of paralegal/legal administrative assistant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare documents in mortgage servicing areas.
  • Support licensing activities across states; maintain good standing with licensing agencies.
  • Assist attorneys with discovery responses and litigation summaries.
  • Communicate with outside counsel and internal teams.
  • Maintain organized binders and document management.
  • Utilize Westlaw, FileOnQ, and internal systems for data gathering.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking to fill the role of Paralegal - Licensing. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with clients, industry partners and internal teams to maximize outcomes for homeowners.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct law research, investigating facts, assisting in discovery, and preparing legal documents in the areas of mortgage servicing litigation, escalated claims, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and escrow servicing
  • Report to an attorney and work closely with other Legal and Compliance professionals to research, acquire, and renew mortgage servicing licenses in multiple states
  • Prepare litigation summaries and assist attorney with collecting information in response to discovery requests
  • Support efforts to ensure that LoanCare, LLC remains current and in good standing with all relevant licensing agencies
  • Assist attorneys by communicating with outside counsel regarding case progress and resolution of cases through alternative dispute resolution procedures and pretrial settlements
  • Prepare and maintain binders and other recordkeeping strategies for document-intensive departmental projects
  • Conduct research in varieties of media such as Westlaw, FileOnQ, law digests, internal practice manuals, loan files, and LoanCare’s proprietary systems as requested
  • Assist in gathering data and preparing information for internal/external attorney requests
  • Identify, document, communicate, and expedite legal risks/issues and mitigation strategies
  • Interfaces with all areas of the company
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 3+ years of paralegal/legal administrative assistant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with management, internal team members, and external personnel within various existing/potential clients and vendors
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage and direct multiple projects concurrently
  • Excels in time and priority management, produces prompt results, and effectively meets deadlines
  • Possesses advanced technical skills and experience, including the use of internet-based technologies, spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), databases, project management and process flow programs (e.g., Microsoft Project and Visio), and word processing (Microsoft Word)
  • Ability to acquire, handle, store, retrieve, and understand varied information rapidly and efficiently
  • Ability to handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events; meets challenges with resourcefulness

Compensation Range

$22.45 -$37.69 hourly. Actual compensation may vary within the range provided, depending on a number of factors, including qualifications, skills and experience.

Work Conditions
