Job summary

The State of Colorado invites applications for a Paralegal position within the Colorado Department of Corrections. The role involves assisting adult offenders with legal materials, managing law library operations, and providing alternative legal access in a secure environment.

Responsibilities include legal research, notary services, supervising offender clerks, and data entry for monthly statistics. A paralegal certificate or JD substitution is required or acceptable within specified timelines.

• Experience with data entry and management of records.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal research assistance to offenders and staff to find proper legal authority.
• Monitor and manage offender legal access computers, including legal research programs and word processing.
• Identify, categorize and log material submitted to be photocopied and deliver to requesting offenders.
• Collect, compile and enter data into computer to facilitate monthly statistical reports.
• Maintain and log data on supply and equipment use and ensure inventories are accurate.
• Search law libraries for contraband and maintain secure environments.
• Other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor.
