Job summary

First Financial Bank is seeking an entry to mid-level Paralegal to support the Legal Department in Cincinnati, OH. You will manage the department inbox, perform basic legal research, review contracts, and assist in annual report filings.

The role requires a bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate (or 1-3 years related experience), plus strong written and verbal communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.

Job description

The Paralegal will have strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects ranging from routine to those calling for independent judgment and initiative in a fast-paced environment; strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be reliable, a fast learner, self-motivated, be a team player and must have great "people skills". Have the ability to engage in a variety of tasks, including conducting research and resolving routine legal questions under the direction of an attorney; and ranging from repetitive to those calling for judgment and independent initiative. Provides research and support activity and counsel and advises company personnel on routine matters. Prepares agreements, instruments, documents, and pleadings relating to litigation and non-litigation matters. Supports Legal Department administrative tasks including but not limited to outside counsel management, litigation/litigation hold management, legal invoice processing, inbox management, and records management in addition to other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Management of Legal department inbox.
  • Basic legal research and analysis.
  • Assisting in department contract review process.
  • Assisting in annual report filings throughout the Bank's footprint.
  • Interacting with internal clients in meetings and group projects.
  • Basic ability to collect, process and review of electronic discovery (e-discovery).
  • Coordinate all aspects of hard copy and electronic document productions.
  • Issuing litigation holds and maintaining litigation hold system with attorney assistance.
  • Provides guidance and assistance with respect to service of process, subpoena and garnishment matters.
  • Oversight and guidance relating to the company's record retention program.
  • Assisting in onboarding of outside counsel.
  • Administration of outside counsel invoice management system (Legal Tracker), and pulling reports out of the system.
  • Assisting in reviewing and drafting internal procedures for the Legal Department.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate or 1-3 years related work experience; 0-5 years paralegal experience
  • Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills verbally and through written electronic correspondence.
  • Must have excellent communication / organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Problem solving, multi-tasking and strong time management skills.
  • Leadership skills are a plus.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Prior Bank experience.
  • Experience using Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar research tools.
Level of Complexity and Scope

Entry Level to Intermediate, with some routine tasks.

Degree of Independence and Decision-Making

Some independence within general direction of an Attorney, Director of Corporate Governance, or more senior Paralegal.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of deskwork.
Frequent use of computer, keyboard, phone and office equipment.
Occasional moving within the office or to other locations within the building.
Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects, typically up to 10 - 15 pounds.
Occasionally reaching for items on shelves or in drawers.
Clear and effective communication in person and over the phone.
Ability to navigate a typical office environment.

Compliance Statement

Development and Training

Pay Range:
$25/hr to $32.21/hr
