Sidley Austin LLP is seeking a Paralegal to manage regulatory filings, related litigation, and international arbitration matters in Washington, D.C. The role requires overtime and may involve travel.

You will handle bluebook work, document management, and trial preparation, supporting attorneys and coordinating with staff across complex regulatory matters.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with strong academic credentials.
  • Minimum one year paralegal experience at a medium or large law firm.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and litigation support software.
  • Preferred: ABA-accredited Paralegal Certificate and experience in arbitration.

Responsabilités

  • Manage all aspects of regulatory filings, litigation, and arbitration cases.
  • Prepare briefs, perform Bluebook citation, cite-check, and proofreading.
  • Maintain organized electronic and hard copy records under confidentiality rules.
  • Coordinate with witnesses and assist with trial preparation and attendance.
  • Oversee work of project assistants and temporary staff.
  • Utilize litigation tech tools for document handling and case management.

Description du poste

The Paralegal will manage all aspects of large regulatory filings and related litigation, and international arbitration cases. The position will require overtime and may involve some travel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of trade remedies regulatory practice before the United States Department of Commerce and the United States International Trade Commission, as well as litigation motion practice and trial and appellate procedures before the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
  • Understanding of investor-state treaty arbitration and commercial arbitration before various international organizations
  • Ability to maintain well-organized electronic and hard copy records under strict rules for confidentiality protection
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Administratively manage all phases of regulatory, litigation, and arbitration cases
  • Manage electronic and hard copy documents through litigation technology
  • Perform Bluebook citation, cite-check, and proofreading of briefs and other legal documents
  • Thorough understanding of court rules and filing requirements
  • Knowledge of LexisNexis, Westlaw and internet search engines for research purposes
  • Knowledge of Pacer and ECF filing procedures
  • Experience with transcript management using platforms such as Case Notebook and Opus 2
  • Experience with eDiscovery and case management tools including Relativity, ExhibitManager and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Assist with witness preparation
  • Trial preparation and attendance
  • Delegate tasks to and oversee the work of Project Assistants and temporary staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with clients, lawyers, legal assistants
  • Other tasks as requested/assigned by a lawyer or team member
Education and/or Experience
  • Required: BA/BS with strong academic credentials
  • Minimum one year of paralegal experience at a medium or large law firm with experience at trial, regulatory litigation, or arbitration hearings; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office applications and litigation support software
Preferred
  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program
  • Experience with international arbitration

The target salary range for this role is: $78,000 - $99,500 if located in Washington, D.C.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
