Job summary

Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York, NY seeks an Estates and Personal Paralegal to work with partners, lawyers and clients. You will create flow charts and family trees, review trust documents, and draft explanatory charts and summaries of trust provisions.

You will prepare presentations for settlements, create Excel exhibits, research and organize client files, notarize documents, assist with court filings, and support firm initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior legal experience beneficial but not required.
  • Knowledge of legal/paralegal environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

Estates and Personal Paralegals have the opportunity to work directly with the Firm’s partners, lawyers, and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create flow charts and family trees to show relationships between family investments
  • Review and analyze trust documents
  • Draft explanatory charts and written summaries regarding trust provisions
  • Prepare presentations for use in settlement discussions
  • Create Excel spreadsheets for use as exhibits
  • Research, review and organize client files and materials
  • Fact-check various trust documents and agreements
  • Notarize client documents
  • Assist with court filings and will executions
  • Assist with special projects supporting the Firm’s practice development, knowledge management and business development initiatives

In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.

The base salary range offered for this role will be $61,000. When determining a candidate’s compensation offer, elements unique to each person are taken into consideration including but not limited to skill set, experience level, performance, professional certifications, degrees and location, as well as the needs of the Firm.
