Job summary

Whistleblower Aid is seeking a highly organized paralegal to support the organization’s legal needs. This role will assist staff lawyers with growing case work, including managing cases and client files, legal research and factual development.

This independent contractor role is based in Washington, DC, hybrid with a minimum two days in office per week. The position is for six months as a 1099 contractor, with potential to convert to full-time on contract end.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and paralegal certificate are required.
• Minimum 3 years paralegal experience, preferably in a law firm, nonprofit, government, or in-house.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting and editing legal documents including correspondence, disclosures, affidavits and other filings.
• Research statutes, legislation, regulations, case law, and other legal resources and prepare written analysis.
• Prepare evidence, declarations, chronologies, summaries, and digests related to cases and projects.
• Assist in document collection, organization and production.
• Manage client case files, including in e-discovery platforms, as needed.
• Assist in correspondence with clients, outside counsel, and other external parties
• Other duties as assigned.
