Paralegal
We are looking for a Paralegal to assist with claims and litigation in federal, state, and local jurisdictions. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast‑paced environment.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Services or a related field preferred.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
Work Experience
- 2+ years litigation or other relevant business operations experience.
Skills
- Excellent time management and ability to support multiple legal professionals.
- Strong organizational and detail orientation.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Analytical, problem‑solving and creative resolution skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Serengeti, iManage and other tools.
Responsibilities
- Assist with claims and litigation in federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Monitor claims and litigation matters and maintain status and tracking in databases such as Serengeti, iManage, PACER.
- Assist with third‑party subpoenas and information requests, including review, investigation, and timely production of responsive documents.
- Assist with drafting, issuance, maintenance and release of legal holds and related tracking of custodians.
- Assist with bankruptcy‑related claims and litigation, including investigation, drafting and timely preparation of proofs of claim.
- Coordinate and support relationships between legal and other corporate departments, distribution centers, and stores.
- Research and draft responses to legal questions.
- Compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports and other complex documents.
- Assist in‑house and outside counsel in legal proceedings for assigned area.
- Analyze data and prepare summaries.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform invoice review and assist in accounts payable processing.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions for assigned area.
- Develop thorough understanding of company policies, procedures and safety rules.
