Job Description:
As a paralegal supporting one of our life insurance clients, you will be responsible for updating legal records related to policy ownership, beneficiaries and ownership assignments. This role involves reviewing legal documents, interpreting their impact on policy arrangements and accelerating service delivery as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret legal documents such as powers of attorney, conservatorship and guardianship orders, divorce decrees, QDROs and bankruptcy filings.
- Support operational teams by applying legal documentation appropriately to ownership and beneficiary records.
- Educate internal teams on the implications of various ownership and beneficiary arrangements.
- Provide documentation guidance to ensure clear and effective records for future reference.
- Collaborate with company attorneys and other departments as needed.
- 3+ of years of experience as a paralegal
- Paralegal certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable experience
- Experience with probate matters and related legal proceedings, including preparation and filing of petitions for probate
- Experience assisting with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, QDROs and guardianship or conservatorship documents
- Familiarity with federal bankruptcy laws and regulations
- Understanding of state probate laws and regulations
- Knowledge of state trusts and estates laws, including basic estate tax principles
- Understanding of state laws and regulations governing divorce
