Job summary

Plymouth Rock Assurance in New York handles Bodily Injury litigation and subrogation support. The Paralegal works with the New York House Counsel team to draft pleadings, manage discovery, and assist attorneys with motions, while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining data integrity.

Ideal candidates have a college degree or paralegal certificate and at least 3 years of NY BI litigation experience, with strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft BI pleadings including discovery demands, responses, motions, subpoenas, and EBT notices.
• Prepare BI arbitration submissions and supplemental submissions.
• Review NOI and jury demands.
• Assist attorneys with summary judgment motions and required affidavits.
• Conduct legal research on personal injury litigation.
• Prepare materials for trial, including subpoenaing records and contacting witnesses.
• Upload documents to AAA platform and file electronically via NYSCEF.
• Maintain case management system data and track deadlines.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

Job description

The Paralegal will provide support to the New York House Counsel team to assist with all aspects of New York Bodily Injury &/or Subrogation practice. The position requires a candidate with a strong attention to detail, experience in New York BI litigation and the ability to meet deadlines.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Draft BI pleadings: including discovery demands, responses, motions, subpoenas, and EBT notices
• Prepare BI arbitration submissions and supplemental submissions
• Review/prepare NOI and jury demands
• Assist attorneys with substantive summary judgment motions, including liability & threshold motions to dismiss and necessary affidavits
• Help with legal research on all aspects of personal injury litigation
• Aid attorneys with preparing materials for trial including subpoenaing records & contacting witnesses
• Upload documents to AAA platform and file documents electronically via NYSCEF
• Diary deadline dates, appearances, dates, etc.
• Address client and/or claim inquiries and concerns
• Input and maintain information into case management system and ensure data integrity
• Execute tactics to ensure workforce efficiency and adherence to schedules
• Ability to perform the above duties independently and with minimal supervision
• Handle special projects as they arise
• Initiate and foster teamwork within the team to create and maintain an environment of partnership, quality service and superior organizational and analytical skills

Qualifications And Education

• College degree and/or Paralegal certificate preferred.
• Should possess a minimum of 3 years litigation experience
• Must have relevant legal and practical experience and knowledge of NY BI litigation
• Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Must be proficient with computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and phone skills
• The applicant should be able to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently

Salary Range:

$68,000 - $91,000 a year. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
