Job summary

State Bar of Texas seeks a Paralegal to draft, review, and analyze legal documents and to assist counsel across health care, compliance, HIPAA, and litigation matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Paralegal Studies with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • In-house health care setting experience preferred.
  • Certification from NALA or AACP desirable.
  • Organized and detail oriented with ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and analyze various legal documents.
  • Perform legal research and compile data on health care, compliance, HIPAA, risk management, estate law, licensing, corporate, and litigation issues.

Job description

  • Work closely with Scottish Rite Legal team in delivering high quality and professional service to Scottish Rite management.
  • Draft, review, and analyze various legal documents.
  • Under the guidance of counsel, perform legal research and compile data on a wide variety of health care, compliance, HIPAA, risk management, estate law, licensing, general corporate, and litigation issues.
  • Assist counsel with the review and revision of contracts and other documents for organization and accuracy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and institutional information.
  • Assist with contract management process for hospital, from intake through execution.
  • Assist the Director of Compliance with Compliance and HIPAA administration processes relating to the Compliance Work Plan, auditing and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Paralegal Studies with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or five years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • In-house experience within a health care setting is preferred.
  • Industry-recognized certification from organizations such as NALA or AACP desirable.
  • Organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication and organization abilities.
  • Strong research and report-generating skills.
  • Experience in using legal database software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend legal documents, statutes, laws, ruled, and regulations.
  • Excellent writing skills and oral communication capabilities, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good communications, including presenting information and responding to questions with internal clients and third parties.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and otherwise computer literate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in a team-centric environment.
