American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Paralegal Sr./Lead to perform key records management and corporate secretarial duties within the Legal Department. You will manage filings, prepare legal documents, and support attorneys in research and documentation for complex transactions.
The role requires paralegal qualifications with substantial experience and familiarity with Board portals and MS Office, in a highly regulated energy context.
Performs a variety of substantive legal work under the direction of the organization's attorneys. Conducts legal research, drafts legal documents and performs other related duties which include "recognition, evaluation, and communication of relevant facts and legal concepts" as defined by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Has or is working towards a paralegal designation.
What you'll do: Perform lead role in records management function for the AEP Legal Department by assisting in: Management of the Secretariat/Officers and Directors database; Maintenance of corporate filings and records and the FERC interlock process; Incorporate, qualify, and dissolve corporate entities; Serve as lead records management support to Finance and Compliance, and other sections of the Legal Department, as well as to the company's Auditing, Accounting and Tax departments; Oversee and prepare or obtain certificates, resolutions, or related legal documents for specific transactions or projects as assigned; Assist attorneys as assigned in conducting complex records review, document preparation and legal research; Work with Legal Department attorneys and support staff to prepare documents, reports, and more complex analyses as appropriate.

Compensation Range: $87,633.00 - $128,688.00
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
