American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Paralegal to perform a variety of substantive legal tasks under attorney supervision in Shreveport, LA. The role focuses on records management, corporate filings, and support across Finance, Compliance, Audit, and Tax teams.

The candidate should have a paralegal designation or be working toward one, with 5–7 years of relevant experience and familiarity with SEC/FERC filings, databases, Secretariat software, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with Paralegal Certificate obtained or in process with 5 years of experience, OR Associate's degree in Paralegal studies or Paralegal certificate required or in process with 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with SEC filing requirements and FERC related filing requirements.
  • Experience with databases, Secretariat software and MS Office Products.
  • Experience with online portals such as BoardVantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead records management for the Legal Department and support corporate filings and the FERC interlock process.
  • Incorporate, qualify, and dissolve corporate entities as needed for transactions or projects.
  • Assist attorneys with complex records review, document preparation and legal research.
  • Prepare documents, reports, and analyses in collaboration with Legal Department staff.
