Job description

Margolis Edelstein, a premier insurance defense firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Philadelphia, PA team. We are looking for self‑motivated individuals with great organizational skills, effective case management, ability to multitask, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and help wherever needed. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney. Duties may include assisting with filing various court documents, drafting templates and calendaring. The ideal candidate will have defense litigation experience, be familiar with e‑filing in state/federal courts, calendaring/docketing, and various legal administrative duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to discovery requests (Interrogatories, Notices to Produce, Requests for Admissions)
  • Collect, examine and organize evidence, medical records and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents and Motions
  • Research regulations, laws and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports and case files
  • Must have experience with e‑filing in state and federal courts
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses and opposing counsel
  • Manage, organize and maintain documents in electronic filing systems
  • Assistance with trial preparation
  • Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Associate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree a plus but not required
  • 2-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficient in Box, SurePoint, and Filevine preferred
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
