Job summary

Brown Gren Abraham & McCracken LLC is seeking a paralegal to manage discovery for assigned files and assist lawyers in defense planning. The ideal candidate multitasks across multiple cases, maintains organized case oversight, and adapts to both independent and team work.

Training and mentorship are provided. The role offers an annual starting range of $65,000–$75,000 DOE with comprehensive insurance, a 401(k), and a flexible hybrid schedule after training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Paralegal certification is preferred.
  • 3+ years of litigation support experience; workers’ compensation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and discovery of assigned files from beginning to end.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Arizona Workers’ Compensation Act and procedures.
  • Draft and serve pleadings to administrative offices and courts.
  • Draft, process, and file correspondence and settlement documents.
  • Create IME/DIME packets for filing with administrative offices.
  • Coordinate with third-party professionals for discoveries as required.
  • Schedule hearings, depositions, conferences, and hearings.
  • Coordinate medical appointments and travel when necessary.
  • Communicate with clients, adjusters, lawyers, physicians, courts, and vendors; prepare exhibits.
  • Review, process, and exchange incoming discoveries with deadlines.
  • Capture billable time to meet annual requirements per client protocols.

WHO WE WANT TO HIRE

A paralegal: an effective case manager who is in charge of moving documents through the discovery stage for every client file that has been assigned, assisting lawyers in creating defense plans, and keeping careful, well-organized oversight and working knowledge of each case. The ideal applicant will be able to work both alone and as part of a team. This role is ideal for someone who is excellent at multitasking across several files, handling detailed duties, and setting priorities. There will be training and mentorship for all new staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the development and discovery of assigned files from beginning to end.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of the Arizona Workers’ Compensation Act and relevant administrative procedures.
  • Draft and serve various pleadings to administrative offices and courts.
  • Draft, process, and file/send correspondence, various legal documents/forms, and settlement documents.
  • Create IME/DIME packets for filing with administrative offices.
  • Coordinate with various third-party professionals in acquiring additional discoveries, such as investigative reports, video surveillance, vocational assessments, and others, as required.
  • Schedule hearings, prehearings, depositions, expert conferences, and settlement conferences.
  • Schedule medical appointments and coordinate travel itineraries when necessary.
  • Professionally communicate with clients, adjusters, lawyers, physicians, courts, and outside vendors. Prepare the case for hearing in coordination with the attorney, including the creation of exhibit packets.
  • Regularly review, process, and exchange incoming discoveries in compliance with time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Contemporaneously capture billable time to meet or exceed annual requirements while adhering to all individual client protocols and procedures.
