Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator Special Education for the 2026‑27 school year. This full‑time position covers 184 days at 6.5 hours per day, with four positions available, to support students with disabilities in various settings.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
• Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam (documentation required).
• Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
• Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance, including completing assigned days.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Able to perform position responsibilities, including physical tasks (toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures), implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal/physical behavior.
• Must be physically working in the building.

Rate of Pay

$20.85/hour to $25.50/hour DOQ with K‑12 experience

$22.00/hour to $26.65/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience

$22.85/hour to $27.50/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience

Additional Pay

Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.50 in hourly compensation.

Start Date

8/31/26. Position may be filled after a 5‑day posting period.
