(Monday - Wednesday) PAY FOR POSITION: PSE Salary Schedule Level 3 - $22.17 Description:This position's responsibilities are to supervise students assigned to after-school detention, to maintain attendance and discipline records, and to perform a variety of tasks related to in-school suspension.
Job Summary:Depending upon the individual assignment, the Paraeducator - In-School Suspension performs all or a combination of several of the following functions:
Reports to the school principal or assigned administrator.
May experience frequent interruptions; required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities; required to track a wide range of student actions; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult student.
May sit for prolonged periods; may stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to visual display terminal; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.
Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment, with experience working with at risk adolescents preferred; experience maintaining detailed records and operating a personal computer preferred.

Demonstrated skill in reading, writing and communicating. Skill in effective behavior management techniques. Ability to deal with students in a warm and confident manner. Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments. Ability to organize activities. Ability to follow and give instructions. Ability to be fair and consistent when working with students. Knowledge of student safety rules and procedures. Knowledge of "at-risk" student behavior. Ability to learn the use of computers and various software packages. Ability to learn the operation of general office machines. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan.
