Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) seeks a paraeducator to support student learning under the principal’s direction. The role assists students with IEPs, helps with academic, behavioral, social, and physical needs to enable access to the curriculum.

Responsibilities include classroom support, behavior management, and related clerical tasks; outside duties and flexible scheduling may be required. New hires start at grade 15 with promotion to grade 16 after six months and training hours.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree is required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• ParaPro Assessment with a qualifying score of 455+ is required.
• Experience with students in structured educational settings preferred.
• Any combination of applicable education, training, and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Support students with IEP goals in classroom and related settings.
• Assist with academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical needs.
• Provide instructional support and small group reinforcement.
• Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and staff.
