Job summary

The West Bloomfield School District is seeking a paraeducator to support students with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and cognitive impairments, in a full-time role. The position requires initiative, adaptability, and teamwork in diverse learning environments.

You will implement behavior plans and assist with basic living skills, observe and record behavior data, and collaborate with staff to meet IEP goals while maintaining student confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of students with special needs; prefer experience with ASD and cognitive impairments.
• High initiative and energy; ability to adapt to new situations.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Internet.
• Ability to meet physical demands (standing, lifting, floor activities).
• Ability to implement and observe behavior/medical plans and record data.
• Ability to work with a diverse team and modify assignments by student level.
• Interpret and understand IEP goals/objectives for students.
• Must maintain student confidentiality and complete CPI training annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist in teaching basic living skills including toileting and feeding.
• Carry out behavior plans and observe/record behavior data.
• Support students in various learning environments and group settings.
• Collaborate with professional staff to support individualized instruction.
