Job summary

Chelmsford Public Schools is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator at Chelmsford High School to support students in both general and special education settings.

Responsibilities include assisting with academics, social and emotional needs, implementing accommodations, and maintaining records under the direction of teachers and the special education team. Experience with high school students and appropriate supports is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or two years of college or para test.

Position: Classroom Paraeducator

Location: Chelmsford High School

Description: Work with high school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Additional duties as required by the special education department or high school principal.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree, two years of college or passing the para test.


• Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities.


• Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.


• Knowledge of special education procedures.


• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the High School level.


• Ability to support students academically with high school curriculum.


• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.


• Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, and socially in the school setting


• Assist students with toileting as needed


• Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers


• Ability to collect data consistently if needed


• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
