Lake Washington School District is seeking a paraprofessional for Alcott Elementary to assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with physical, behavioral, or medical needs. The role supports students’ health care needs and helps develop daily living and behavioral skills.

Working 180 days per year, 6 hours per day, with a 9:30 AM–4:00 PM shift, the position may supervise students in various settings and assist with supplies and classroom prep.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • AA degree or higher, or two years of college (72 credit hours), or ParaPro/Paraprofessional scores.
  • Official documentation required upon hire.
  • Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with diverse needs.
  • Support students with physical, behavioral, or medical needs and develop daily living/behavioral skills.
  • Assist staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, and with use/storage of equipment and supplies.
  • May supervise students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classrooms, playgrounds, or during bus loading/unloading.

Description

180 day working calendar Hours Per Day: 6.0 Shift: 9:30-4:00. Shift subject to change. Location: Alcott Elementary (located within the Eastlake Learning Community) Hourly Rate: Step 1: $30.79/hour- Step 2: $33.47/hour based on experience (SC7 Salary Schedule 2026 - 2027 ) Position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).

Job Summary

Assists teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Supports students' special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills. Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR
  • Completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR
  • Passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher.
  • Official documentation will be required upon hire.
  • Must pass criminal background check
