Job summary

Bashor Home of the United Methodist Church Inc is seeking a steady, student-centered para-professional to support instruction within our Alternative Education Program and help students re-engage with learning. You will work closely with licensed teaching staff to provide targeted academic assistance and maintain a positive, trauma-informed classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active Indiana Substitute Teacher License or ability to obtain one is preferred.
• Strong communication, patience, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain calm, consistent, and supportive with students who may struggle in traditional settings.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn new strategies.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction under the direction of licensed teaching staff.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group academic assistance.
• Help maintain a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed learning environment.
• Assist with behavior support, redirection, and relationship-building.
• Supervise students during transitions, breaks, and other non-instructional times.
• Support documentation, attendance, and basic administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.
