Job summary

Naugatuck Public Schools in Connecticut is seeking a Para-Educator to support students under the direction of a certified teacher. You will work one-to-one or in small groups and help maintain materials, equipment, and student records while reinforcing instruction as directed.

Responsibilities include preparing the classroom for the school year, setting up learning centers, assisting with special area classes, participating in meetings, and helping with transportation-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Work with students one-to-one or in small groups under a certified teacher.
• Assist in maintaining materials, equipment and records of students.
• Reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing classroom for the school year.
• Maintain daily classroom environment, including setting up learning centers and materials.
• Reinforce skills taught in daily lessons.
• Maintain behavior modification plans and schedules.
• Assist in teacher-prepared group lessons and individual seat work.
• Assist at art, music, physical education and other special area classes when appropriate.
• Participate in all classroom activities including field trips, recess, lunch, and playground.
• Assist with the physical needs of all children including toileting, feeding, dressing and other health needs.
• Attend PPT or IEP meetings when required.
• As assigned perform transportation related duties as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service professional development when required.
