New Fairfield Public Schools New Fairfield Elementary in New Fairfield, CT seeks a Para Educator to support students, including those with special needs, under certified staff supervision.

The role involves working with individuals or small groups, implementing instructional activities, recording progress data, and assisting with IEP/504 accommodations while maintaining classroom safety and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups in a variety of educational settings.
• Carries out instructional activities as designed by a certified staff member.
• Maintains and records data on student progress as assigned.
• Assists students in following classroom and school rules, routines, and behavioral expectations.
• Monitors testing and provides appropriate accommodations as directed.
• Supports implementation of accommodations and modifications as described in students’ IEPs and 504 Plans.
• Assists in development and implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies.
• Supervises testing, makeup work, or independent study as assigned.
• Scores tests and corrects papers using established answer keys.
• Assists with the use of instructional media, technology, equipment, and materials.
• Prepares instructional materials and supports organization of classroom supplies.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information per district policy and FERPA.
• Participates in staff development and demonstrates professionalism.
