Job summary

Smurfit Westrock's Roanoke Rapids mill seeks a Production Supervisor to lead Paper and Shipping operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time production. You will oversee two paper machines and logistics, drive continuous improvement, and coach a rotating shift crew in a unionized setting.

The role requires engineering grounding, 3–8 years in paper manufacturing, and 1–2 years of supervisory experience, with strong leadership and safety focus.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3–8 years’ experience in Paper Manufacturing.
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership with a track record of improving employee engagement.
• Experience in a unionized location preferred.
• Ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts, including nights, days, weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety leadership and maintain safe work practices; promote safety engagement across crews.
• Ensure environmental compliance and support environmental initiatives.
• Oversee product quality and crew workmanship; meet customer expectations.
• Manage crews and equipment to maximize reliability and machine efficiency; troubleshoot issues.
• Provide leadership and coaching to rotating shift crews in Paper and Shipping.
• Train crew members to maximize operator proficiency.
• Initiate and support safety, environmental, and quality investigations.
• Communicate production information and issues to relevant personnel.
• Direct shift maintenance resources for mechanical and electrical work.
• Support machine outages planning and execution.
• Maintain housekeeping in all areas.
