Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Roanoke Rapids, NC, is seeking a Paper Mill Assistant Machine Superintendent to oversee production on one of our paper machines. You will foster a strong safety culture and drive improvements in quality, productivity, efficiency and cost.

You will report to the Paper & Logistics Manager and lead machine personnel, coordinate with maintenance, and develop plans to increase machine efficiency while upholding customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead safety systems and ensure safe operations.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated discretion and independent judgement in identifying opportunities and delivering results.
• Strong RCFA skills (root cause analysis).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (Paper Science, Chemical, or Mechanical).
• Minimum of three years of leadership experience in the paperboard industry.

• Coordinate efforts with maintenance and technical teams.
• Develop methods to track and reduce operational costs.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to increase machine efficiency.
