Job summary

International Paper seeks a Paper Machine Technical Assistant to support the Area Process Manager in leading and coordinating operations across the mill. You will bring technical expertise to optimize day-to-day performance, safety, and quality while mentoring operators and coordinating chemical trials.

The role requires a BS or higher in chemical/mechanical engineering or pulp and paper technology, with at least 3 years in pulp and paper.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in chemical or mechanical engineering, pulp and paper technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years in pulp and paper manufacturing.
• Active participation in safety, problem solving and other committee activities.
• Hands-on education/training, maintenance planning and scheduling with high computer skills.
• Direct involvement with customer service related to product and service.

Responsibilities

• Support the Paper Machine Area Safety and Environmental Results.
• Lead process problem solving and optimize to improve OEE and Machine Performance.
• Supervise Paper Machine chemical suppliers and manage chemical trials and optimization.
• Own product quality leadership and investigate customer issues and machine trials.
• Support Mill’s Process Control Team to ensure DCS controls are maintained and optimized.
• Assist Paper Machine Area Manager and Learning Leader in operator training and certification.
