Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Paper Machine Assistant Superintendent to lead safety, environmental, quality, and performance efforts on the paper machine. You will direct an Operations Maintenance Coordinator, process engineering support, and a union hourly workforce, driving improvements across uptime, productivity and costs.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent supervisory experience, with 10+ years in a machine supervisory capacity and strong leadership, troubleshooting, and

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or equivalent Paper Machine supervisory experience.
• 10+ years of machine level supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to use analytical tools to guide Process Engineer.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Computer skills and ability to develop proficiency are mandatory.
• Respond to machine issues after hours, weekends, holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Direct safety culture efforts on the floor to achieve an injury-free workplace.
• Lead performance improvement in productivity, uptime, quality, and cost reductions.
• Coordinate outages, Lock Out/Tag Out, and execution strategy.
• Oversee Continuous Improvement and RI process to timely completion.
• Drive capital projects and cost reduction initiatives for the paper machine.
• Provide engineering support and direction to the Process Engineer and crews.
• Plan with scheduling and grade structure, and coordinate vendor optimization.
• Develop knowledge and skills of employees to improve performance.
• Support weekend duty as Paper Mill Representative and report to Paper Mill Manager.
