Job summary

FCL Graphics, Inc. – Harwood Heights, IL is seeking an experienced Paper Cutter Operator to join our production team.

The role requires independently setting up and operating Polar and Saber programmable paper cutters in a fast-paced commercial printing environment. Responsibilities include reading job tickets, programming cutting sequences, cutting to specifications, and coordinating with Bindery/Finishing.

Qualifications

• Commercial printing or bindery experience strongly preferred.
• Previous experience operating Polar, Saber, or similar programmable guillotine cutters.
• Ability to read a ruler and work accurately with fractions and decimal measurements.
• Ability to understand grain direction, bleeds, trim marks, and printed sheet layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to safely handle and move lifts of paper.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work overtime when production schedules require it.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Polar and Saber paper cutters.
• Read and understand job tickets, cut diagrams, and production specifications.
• Program cutting sequences for efficient production.
• Cut printed sheets, signatures, covers, and other materials to required specifications.
• Jog, load, cut, and properly identify finished lifts.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, counts, and overall quality.
• Maintain accurate separation and identification of multiple versions.
• Coordinate work with Press, Folding, Stitching, and other Bindery departments.
• Perform routine operator maintenance and keep equipment/work area clean and safe.
• Follow all FCL safety, quality, and production procedures.
