Job summary

Medium is seeking a skilled assembler to install electrical wiring and assemble components in control cabinets, electrical and industrial equipment, according to blueprints and wiring diagrams.

The role involves wiring, drilling, tapping, soldering and assembling parts, with opportunities to lead a team and coordinate timecards. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential, and forklift certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble enclosures, back plates or components per layouts.
• Lay out diagrams for electrical installations per wiring specs.
• Drill and tap holes for mounting control units.
• Wire assembly for electrical installations per wiring specs.
• Attach breakers, relays, contacts, bus bars, transformers and fuse blocks.
• Cut, strip, bend, and form wires and cables to connect circuits.
• Solder connections and crimp connectors to wire ends.
• Adjust electrical assemblies.
• Discuss diagram or production order issues with supervisor or engineer to resolve assembly problems.
• May act as Team Lead disseminating jobs and approving timecards.

Job Summary

Installs electrical wiring and assembles components in control cabinets, electrical and industrial equipment, and related industrial apparatus, according to blueprints and wiring diagrams by performing the following duties.

Physical Demands

• Sit at desk for extended periods of time


• Use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, and reach for items


• Listen to and talk with fellow staff and internal and external customers


• Frequently required to crouch, crawl, stoop, or kneel


• Be able to lift 50 pounds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Squares, aligns, and assembles enclosures, back plates or components.


• Lays out diagram for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.


• Drills and taps holes in specified locations for mounting control units.


• Wires assembly for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.


• Attaches breakers, relays, contacts, bus bars, transformers, insulators, meters, plugging devices, and fuse blocks to mounting holes with bolts and screws.


• Cuts, strips, bends, and forms wire, wire cable, conduit, pipe, and tubing used to connect circuits and subassemblies.


• Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire ends.


• Adjusts electrical assemblies.


• Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.


• May act as a Team Lead disseminating jobs, approving timecards, etc.
