Job summary

Advanced Electronic Services Inc. TN1 is seeking an assembler to develop and assemble electronic components and subassemblies according to schematics. You will read blueprints, select correct parts, and perform wiring and quality checks.

The role requires experience with hand tools, reading wiring diagrams, and maintaining accuracy and safety in a warehouse environment. Training provided as needed and cross-training is possible.

Qualifications

  • Experience using hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches) required.
  • Experience reading blueprints or wiring diagrams preferred.
  • Experience in production or assembly roles preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components following drawings and schematics.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and ensure correct parts.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, PLCs and I/O modules.
  • Inspect and verify quality; complete quality check forms.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and safety practices.

Description

SUMMARY

Assembles a wide variety of electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems following standard work procedures, sample assemblies, and schematics / wiring diagrams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • View, study and interpret assembly instructions, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, or sketches.
  • Listen to verbal instructions from designated trainer/leader.
  • Read parts list. Determine if all parts are present. Obtain correct parts for work steps by referring to the available documentation and collecting items from stock location, cross-referencing the part numbers.
  • Position/stage parts, tools and subassemblies.
  • Assemble components based on drawings, engineering specifications, manufacturing documentation and/or standard work procedures. Interpret measurements and verify specifications.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O modules, VFDs, interfaces, and instrumentation while ensuring wire and cables are routed and bundled neatly to meet internal quality standards and external requirements.
  • Check for part defects; clean, adjust and replace parts as needed to ensure a quality product.
  • Use a variety of hand tools to install components, including screwdriver, torque wrench, mallet, socket wrench, etc.
  • Apply labels per requirements.
  • Inspect work as steps are performed and complete quality check checklist as required by customer and/or AES. Ensure all parts are fitted and installed properly.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and communicate with engineering or leadership as necessary to reach resolution.
  • Start up and shut down any equipment used during the assembly process in compliance with company and OSHA safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown.
  • Complete quality control and/or unit verification forms.
  • Communicate with multiple departments regarding the status of the unit, including leadership, engineering, quality, logistics, etc.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly and clean work area.
  • Cross train in other areas.
  • Comply with all safety policies required to perform each job task in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc. required.
  • Previous experience reading blueprints, schematics, or wiring diagrams preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a production or assembly role preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Mechanical aptitude beneficial.
  • Ability to read blueprints or schematics very helpful.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment such as PLCs, relays, controls, I/O modules, interfaces, etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, terminology, electrical schematics preferred.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment, levels, squares, and various hand tools preferred.
  • Ability to cross reference part numbers.
  • Ability to follow oral and written policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of productivity while achieving quality workmanship to achieve established metrics.
  • Interpersonal skills required to work in a team environment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequent standing at a workstation to perform assembly work.
  • Occasionally required to lift 35 pounds without assistance to waist, shoulder or overhead height in order to install components into larger units. Heavier weights are required in specific work areas but assistance lifting is available.
  • Frequent bending, stooping and walking.
  • Occasional computer work.
  • Infrequent climbing of ladders, depending upon the work area.
  • Consistent attendance with occasional off‑shift support required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Works in a warehouse style production environment with some noise level from operating forklifts and industrial fans.

Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time. Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
