Job summary

Electro-Matic, a SunSource company, is seeking a Panel Technician to install electrical wiring and assemble components in control cabinets and industrial equipment in a warehouse setting in Michigan. The role requires reading blueprints, following wiring diagrams, and performing assembly tasks with accuracy.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years of assembly experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills across business, creative, and technical areas.
  • MS Office proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Interpersonal, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to read assembly prints and assemble with accuracy.
  • Must pass EMP panel wiring test.

Responsibilities

  • Squares, aligns, and assembles enclosures, back plates or components.
  • Lays out diagram for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.
  • Drills and taps holes in specified locations for mounting control units.
  • Wires assembly for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.
  • Attaches breakers, relays, contacts, bus bars, transformers, insulators, meters, plugging devices, and fuse blocks to mounting holes with bolts and screws.
  • Cuts, strips, bends, and forms wire, wire cable, conduit, pipe, and tubing used to connect circuits and subassemblies.
  • Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire ends.
  • Adjusts electrical assemblies.
  • Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.
  • Installs back plates as required.
  • Installs PEM nuts as needed for mounting additional components.
  • Installs all fans and filters according to specifications.
  • May act as a Team Lead disseminating jobs, approving timecards, etc.

Required Education and/or Experience

Work Environment

Position is an indoor warehouse setting with moderate noise levels including voices, office equipment, and foot traffic sounds. Employee may interact with customers, sales representatives, and other internal departments.
