Job summary

River Cities Engineering, Inc. seeks an experienced electrical panel assembler to fabricate, wire, and test control panels from engineering drawings. This is a full-time, onsite role in Davenport, IA, requiring careful attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.

You will interpret schematics, assemble parts, route wiring, apply labels, maintain records, and support field technicians as needed. A minimum of two years' experience in panel building or as a field technician is required,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical control panel building or as field technician required.
  • NEC and UL508A knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts and electrical control panels accurately and efficiently according to job specifications.
  • Interpret and apply assembly drawings and electrical schematics with a high level of proficiency.
  • Build and wire industrial control panels in compliance with UL, NEC, and internal quality standards.
  • Identify and select correct components using electrical schematics and bills of materials.
  • Drill, tap, punch, and cut enclosure openings with precision and within expected timeframes.
  • Route machine cabling and terminate connections for motors, transformers, junction boxes, and control devices accurately and thoroughly.
  • Print and apply labels and tags to wires, cables, devices, and equipment in a neat and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, testing results, project changes, and material inventory.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable codes, customer specifications, and company safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all projects meet required functionality, quality, and appearance standards.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues, including interpreting voltage and amp readings, tracing wiring, testing relays and motors, evaluating sensors, and checking breakers, fuses, and wire integrity.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner. Maintain a professional appearance and comply with company dress, grooming, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for fabricating, wiring, and testing control panels based on engineering drawings. Assists with the preparation and packaging of panels for shipment. Maintains the organization, cleanliness, and general upkeep of the shop. Provides support to team members on all shop-related tasks and activities.

Essential Duties

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The physical demands and working conditions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.   • Perform physically demanding work requiring manual dexterity, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds; frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, climbing, and working in awkward positions; and prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including confined spaces, elevated locations, noisy or dusty conditions, and exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Safely work from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and other elevated work platforms as required.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, testing instruments, and technology devices requiring fine motor skills.
  • Maintain visual acuity sufficient to read technical documents, blueprints schematics, labels, and electronic displays, as well as distinguish wire colors and identify small components.
  • Work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
  • Travel to job sites and customer locations, including overnight stays, as required.
Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to consistently comply with OSHA regulations, electrical safety standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to operate a computer and related software and accessories, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to consistently deliver results in alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply job-related instructions and materials in English, with or without reasonable accommodation or through an approved translation method, as required for safe and effective job performance. Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with customers, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve non-complex issues, prioritize work, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions independently.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights and/or holidays as needed.
  • Position requires full-time onsite work. Remote work is not available for this role.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical control panel building or as field technician required.
  • NEC and UL508A knowledge preferred.
