Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. Hanover facility is seeking a Palletizer Operator to run the palletizer equipment, monitor quality, and support efficient packaging lines in a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (5pm–5am) with overtime as needed.

You will work with supervision and QA to maintain safety, quality, and productivity, while training new operators and ensuring proper documentation and label generation for pallets.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work alternate schedules including overtime (voluntary and mandatory)
  • High School education or GED required
  • Knowledge of OSHA training in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of AS400 and related systems is preferred
  • 6S training or experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate palletizer machines and other equipment for 2-piece or 3-piece can production
  • Maintain safety, quality, productivity, and minimize spoilage
  • Perform daily quality checks and keep accurate records
  • Enter data and generate pallet labels as required
  • Assist and coach new palletizer operators as needed

Job Description:
Location:

Plant 37 is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry. There are approximately 95 employees at the Hanover location. The Hanover Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA and the Maryland border.

This position is scheduled on a rotating 12 hour schedule. The hours for this position are 5pm-5am with mandatory overtime as needed.

The hourly rate of pay is $21.40 with an additional $2 an hour for shift differential.

Position overview:

The Palletizer Operator works closely with Supervision and Quality to ensure optimum levels in Quality Inspections, Package identification, and Final packaging.

Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Understand and follow verbal instructions to completion of assigned tasks
  • Responsibility of maintaining the palletizer operation of the food can package process with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage
  • Responsible for the operations of one or more machines or equipment for the production of 2-piece or 3-piece steel cans
  • Ability to safely operate, identify basic mechanical problems, and the maintaining of process equipment
  • Communicates all pertinent information between management, co-workers, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information
  • Assists and trains and/or coaching of all new palletizer operators as needed or required
  • Applies skills, methods to improve plant production
  • Responsible in following SOP's, Plant Rules, 6S Housekeeping, maintaining equipment and modifications of existing production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies
  • Enter information into a computer to generate labels for the pallets
  • Accurate and continuous quality checks and record keeping required.
  • Complete and/or administer necessary documentation such as monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting, and data process control input.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Requirements
  • Manufacturing experience
  • High School Education/GED
  • Knowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of AS400
  • 6S Training

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand 8-12 hours per shift

Ability to climb and descend stairs

Working Conditions

Generally works in a packaging/warehouse or plant environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic

Production noise level is frequently loud
