The Crown Holdings, Inc. Hanover, PA plant is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead the production team on a rotating 12-hour schedule (5pm–5am). The role emphasizes safety, quality, and productivity to meet customer expectations.

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, you will supervise equipment and staff, drive improvements, train employees, and ensure compliance with production standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School or GED.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proven supervisory experience of 3+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise equipment and workforce to optimize safety, quality, productivity, spoilage, and engagement.
  • Communicate information between departments and shifts about equipment, schedules, and problems.
  • Lead problem-solving for machinery and process issues and implement fixes.
  • Perform on-the-job training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Apply process knowledge to improve plant production and efficiency.
  • Manage machine setup, adjustments, and product inspection for standards compliance.
  • Oversee quality improvements and modifications within equipment limits.
  • Complete documentation such as production sheets, attendance, and safety cards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry over 7 shifts. There are approximately 85 employees at the Hanover location.


The Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to Gettysburg PA, York PA and the Maryland border.


This position is scheduled on a rotating 12-hour schedule. The hours for this position are 5pm-5am. There will be times where overtime is mandatory or hours may differ.


Position overview:


Reporting directly to the Plant Superintendent, the Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading the manufacturing team to ensure production of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.



  1. Coordinates and supervises activities of equipment and workforce throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, Spoilage and Employee Engagement

  2. Communicates all pertinent information between departments and between shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems or any other related information.

  3. Works with employees on identifying, discussing solutions and implementing "fixes" on machinery and equipment problems

  4. Performs and facilitates "on the job training", coaching, and performance management of employees as needed or required

  5. Applies knowledge of various processes, production methods and processes to improve plant production

  6. Manages machinery set-up and adjustment and inspects products to ensure compliance to standards

  7. Oversees quality and recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limits

  8. Complete and/or administer necessary documentation such as production sheets, pallet ticketing, job progressions, disciplinary actions, monthly SAFE cards, time and attendance, accident reports and process control sheets

  9. Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned


JOB REQUIREMENTS *

QUALIFICATIONS:


In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:



  • High School Education/GED

  • 5-7 years experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment

  • At least three years of proven supervisory experience

  • Shift: Rotating 4 on, 4 off continuous operation work schedule, 5p-5a

  • Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support


Preferred Requirements


  • Packaging industry experience

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing

  • Strong problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach

  • Ability to work independently or with a team

  • Must be able to look at new solutions and "think outside the box"

  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.

  • Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people

  • Excellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-task

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)


Physical Requirements


  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus


Working Conditions


  • Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic

  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures

  • The noise level is frequently loud
