The Painter Show Finisher will produce and maintain themed show sets, props, figures, and characters in a shop and/or field environment. The Painter Show Finisher will use multiple mediums and materials including FRP, butyrate, latex, oil base products, adhesives, urethanes, silicone, poly-mixes, acrylics, enamels, and black light. The field service position may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop material finishes from documented and undocumented sources.
  2. Utilize an array of materials and techniques to problem solve issues as they arise.
  3. Use fur, feathering, and sewing techniques.
  4. Use resources for animated figure skin color matching to documented standards.
  5. Handle cleaning chemicals and supplies as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Valid Florida driver’s license.
  2. Capable of working overnight hours.
  3. Minimum of five years’ experience in scenic painting or related field.
  4. Experience with silicone repairs and painting, plastisol/hot melt skin buttering, sculpting with various mediums, tree and foliage fabrication, fur and feathering techniques, scenic set painting, scenic treatments pertaining to attractions, airbrushing skills, and/or extensive hand painting techniques.
  5. Possess and present a portfolio reflecting past work experiences and projects related to animated figures, skins, mold making, vehicles, dry brush, wash and faux texture painting techniques, and character finishes.
  6. Knowledge of human anatomy artistically and mechanically.
  7. Applied skills in fur, sewing, and pattern making.
  8. Basic understanding of black light paint and techniques.
  9. Knowledge of fiberglass and butyrate repairs and maintenance.
  10. Sculpting ability demonstrating a variety of forms, subjects, and techniques.
  11. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  12. Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of the Walt Disney Company brands, including Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, etc.
  2. Computer proficiency in a Windows environment.
