Painter Show Finisher, Walt Disney World

Role Overview:

The Painter Show Finisher will produce and maintain themed show sets, props, figures, and characters both in a shop and field environment. The role involves working with various mediums including FRP, latex, oil-based products, adhesives, urethanes, silicone, poly-mixes, acrylics, enamels, and black light effects. The position may require work from elevated platforms and in confined spaces throughout Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $36.49 per hour. Selected benefits may include medical, financial, and other perks. Learn more at: Disney Careers Benefits.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop material finishes based on documented and undocumented sources.
  • Use various materials and techniques to troubleshoot issues.
  • Apply fur, feathering, and sewing techniques.
  • Match animated figure skin colors to standards using available resources.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals and supplies as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work overnight hours.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in scenic painting or related fields.
  • Experience with silicone repairs, painting, sculpting, foliage fabrication, fur and feathering, scenic set painting, airbrushing, and hand painting techniques.
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, both artistic and mechanical.
  • Skills in fur, sewing, pattern making, and black light techniques.
  • Understanding of fiberglass and butyrate repairs.
  • Ability to sculpt a variety of forms and subjects.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with office software and mobile devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Disney brands including Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, etc.
  • Proficiency in Windows environment.

Our parks and resorts operate 24/7, with schedules and start times varying.
