Job description

Job Title: Painter/Loader

Our company is seeking an experienced Painter/Loader for our miscellaneous metals division.

Under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor, the employee will be responsible for:

  1. Painting, loading, and unloading structural steel/miscellaneous metal components such as columns, beams, channels, plates, stair treads, and railings onto or from trucks using overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
  2. Performing tasks related to the shipment of products, including reading work lists, instructions, and diagrams.
  3. Preparing surfaces by wire brushing and scraping to meet specifications.
  4. Protecting surfaces with drop cloths, tape, and paper during painting.
  5. Applying paint or finishes using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
  6. Operating hand and power tools relevant to painting and loading.
  7. Planning painting and loading activities based on specifications, work orders, and safety data sheets.
  8. Climbing ladders and stairs to work on flatbed trailers.
  9. Marking or tagging materials with appropriate identifiers.
  10. Operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment for material transportation and storage.
  11. Wearing respirators for extended periods as required.
  12. Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 70 pounds unassisted.
  • Physical capability to bend, twist, and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work independently and with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and follow procedures.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and positive attitude.
